Glenda Canaca, MD

Associate Scientist III, Prevention Research Center

Glenda Canaca joined the Division of Prevention and Population Sciences in 2008 as part of the Child Health Initiative for Lifelong Eating and Exercise (CHILE) team. She was part of the team that implemented the initial CHILE intervention for two years and conducted the evaluation. Her work has concentrated on chronic disease prevention in Hispanic and American Indian communities. She is currently the principal investigator of the Eat Smart to Play Hard program, a social marketing initiative developed to increase consumption of fruits and vegetables in children and their families in New Mexico. Dr. Canaca provides professional leadership in the use of the social marketing framework in the University and general community.
