The PRC Network

The mission of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) PRC Program is to connect science and practice through a network of academic, public health, and community partnerships for scholarly, community-based prevention research; research translation; and education. Although there are many projects here at the UNM PRC that pre-date the formal establishment of the PRC, the Center was officially designated and funded as a Center of Excellence by the CDC in 1994.

Continuously funded since 1994, the PRC is part of a network of 26 academic centers, who partner with agencies and communities to conduct research in disease prevention and control. Using rigorous science and collaborative partnerships, a team of multidisciplinary faculty and staff works hard to find innovative and novel ways to improve healthy living through research, especially in populations bearing the greatest burden of disparities.

See the CDC's webpage for information about our Center and the other 26 PRCs, as well as the entire PRC network.
