Publications & Reports

To help fulfill the UNM PRC's mission, researchers at the Center are committed to widely reporting their collaboration, training, dissemination, and evaluation activities. PRC research is described in articles in peer-reviewed professional journals; oral and poster presentations at national, regional, and local conferences; books and book chapters; and reports and other documents prepared for a specific agency or purpose.

Peer-Reviewed Publications

The scope of PRC research and the importance assigned to this work by health promotion and disease prevention practitioners throughout the world are indicated by the variety of disciplines represented by the peer-reviewed journals in which articles and conference abstracts by Center researchers have been published. PRC projects have been described in journals serving professionals in the following fields: public health, nutrition and dietetics, preventive medicine, family and community medicine, health policy, health education, health communication, pediatrics, adolescent medicine, psychology and behavioral medicine, school health, and anthropology. The list of articles in peer-reviewed journals is arranged according to year and first author.

PRC researchers have been invited, after a peer-review process, to speak about their work at many regional or national conferences. The list of conference presentations is arranged according to year and speaker.

Books & Book Chapters

The work of the PRC has been recognized by book editors and publishers who have commissioned Center researchers to write books and chapters of books. The list of books and book chapters is arranged according to first author.

The Connection newsletter has the goal of strengthening the connection between the PRC and communities. We are pleased that our Community Advisory Council recommended that we publish a newsletter as a way to broaden communications among the PRC, council, and communities served.

Research done at the PRC has been summarized in posters presented at local, regional, and national scientific conferences. Recent posters, with abstracts, can be accessed below.

Reports & Documents

At the request of various agencies (for example, New Mexico Department of Health), PRC researchers study specific health promotion and disease prevention issues and prepare reports on their investigation for public distribution. Some of these documents also describe a PRC project and its outcomes or make recommendations for addressing a public health issue. The list of reports and documents is arranged according to year.
